E. Blancke 12 gauge SxS hammer free.

A bicep* of the era of transition from external hammers (roosters) to the interior.
Description: Unusual Punt* Gun
E. Blancke 12 gauge SxS hammer free. The German shotgun represents an interesting transition from external firing to traditional hunting to internal firing of the modern boxlock.
Has 29 1/2″ Plum steel, raised line with “E” engraving. BLANCKE in NAUMBURG A/S” inserted in gold on its upper surface and “C. 12” gold insert with gold strips on base. Fore end lower lever opens the base by pushing the barrels forward. Round body engraved with fox hunting scene chronograph on left side, hunting dog on right side, moose on top of base back and quails on trigger guard, all wrapped up in a pleasant intermediate swing straightener, extinguishers and double triggers. The internal-external firing hammers protect the back of the base body when armed.
The security mechanism is located on the trigger plate in front of the bumper.
Mounted in beautiful European walnut with splinter-type checkering and Monte Carlo pole with carved cheek. The trigger bumper is elaborate and engraved with a carved horn section just like the opening lever underneath the front. Buddy Walters

I saw this and it didn’t ring any bells for me so I asked Steve.

That is a genuinely odd one! I think you see more genuinely transitional forms in continental guns than  in Brit or US models .. more tolerance of the odd.

He replied with the above.

The Germans (H. Leue und Timpe, H. Barella – Fürst Pless action) were the first https://wp.me/p461yQ-3Zf

Igor R. Karklinsh posted a comment about the gun and where to find a Russian article on it.

This will open a list of all articles in the selected language.

I followed the instructions above and generated this list of Russian articles in English. There looks to be some interesting gun information in the list but I haven’t looked, yet.

This one references the gun. I am not sure if the link will open in English or if you have to run the translate option first. You can try it on your end.

It reminds me of a humpbacked Browning auto.

As usual, open in new tabs to embiggen.
