So the Bureau of Land Management, with the help of the U.S. Forest Service, is working through the multi-year, 100,000-acre Ward Mountain Restoration Project to level the playing ground for wildlife—literally.
I knew this was done and have seen complaints about it. They say wildlife but I think this has more to do with cattle and grass 90% of the time. It is a pretty extreme process and I can’t help but be reminded of what heavy machinery does to soils and ecosystems here.
Also, dozers and choppers? Big $$$. For wildlife? More likely the cattle lobby.
