Here is my favorite image of Homotherium serum, a frightening predator, in life bigger than an African lion and possibly cursorial like a hyena, by Mauricio Anton for The Big Cats and their Fossil Relatives. The paperweight is a young mammoth’s tooth found by Joe Hutto in Florida; young mammoths were the major prey of a species of Homotherium at one European site.

Being able to talk about your favorite extinct fuzzies at leisure is a sign of good company, or perhaps strong drink. The former in this instance, I think.
Yeah, I'm always telling folks what an "eclectic" group of folks are on "Querencia". And to illustrate how well(?) My house is cram full of such plastic animal fetishes(in every niche, nook, and cranny)–simply a primitive person's modernized version of ivory, stone, or wooden animal fetishes. Including plenty of prehistoric critters. This Saber-Tooth is the newest "Safari" company model, for those of you modern Cro-Magnon's who are interested in trading for your own–available on Amazon in the toy department, and so easy to order, a caveman can do it!
