Utah Considers a Ban on Wireless Trail Cams During Hunting Season
I sent this around and Steve thought it was worth blogging.
My friends have cell cams and they dominate the market having replaced other trail cams very quickly.
There has been lots of abuse, especially in the southwest, around water holes. I have heard of 100s of cell cams added around waterholes.
Water is not an issue here but bait is. Baiting started increasing in the 1990s and exploded when cameras became cheap enough. The goal now is to get as many cams over bait as possible. With cell cams, one of my friends tells me, they sit in a blind at night and get cell cam pics as the deer come in. He agreed they should be banned here in the season, too. I agree, as well. No one hunts or scouts anymore they just dump apples where it is convenient for them. No thinking and no skills. Younger hunters know nothing else. Even older hunters, now. Seeing the deer on the camera dominates all ethics.
I just ordered a 2 pack cell cam on sale, last month. I never thought they would drop to a $100 per cam so fast but a friend says the company has sold millions and the economics have changed. One will be for security, the other to mess around with in the woods.
