Thief

Three days ago, my .357 magnum was stolen, while I was in the house

It was a  physically complicated situation. The house has  been full of strangers  as  I  try to  try to  retrofit  for a  Parkinsonian  married to a person who has just survived a hip operation.

This guy came in to help  our Navajo friend Hank carry some  heavy s†uuff. Unfortunately, he sat down for a  beer on  the  chair  outside the temporarily  open gun room door, ,right where the revolver was sitting, just visible.  That he is an experienced  thief might be argued by  how quickly  he took advantage. I did not  notice until the next morning, There is no doubt who took it, incidentally.

The-unexpected—worst thing is the behavior of the police- almost unbelievable. They seem to be taking the position that they can’t do anything because I didn’t have a serial number. This is ridiculous. It was unfortunate, but the gun was a gift and I neglected to write it down. There is no law that  I  IMUST have  a  serial number..

But there is  no doubt about “Joe’s” guilt. We know where it is—Hank even told them what house it was in (Joe’s s girlfriend’s house ). Why won’t they go and get it?

“We cant just go and knock on doors?”

Oh…REALLY?

  1. We had a similar experience involving much less expensive items. My mother-in-law is in a care home in the small town where my wife grew up. We sent a package to her containing a pair of sheepskin slippers and some family photographs. The postman left it outside the door as the door was locked and he didn’t want to wait for someone to come open it. The facility has video of an employee (former, now) picking up the package and taking it to her car before coming in to work. The slippers meant very little but the photos were priceless. Yet the police basically did nothing. I hope you get your gun back; doesn’t stealing a firearm have federal implications?

  2. Maybe a guilt trip will work. If “Joe’s” Navajo have his entire clan come down on him. Talk to his girlfriend. What’s she doing with such a bad person. What bar does he go to? Talk to the bartender, no thieves allowed. Hope you get the pistol back. New dog name; Thorn.
