I guess the traditional way to do this is to say:
Libby has had an accident but she is OK.
Two days ago a young kid came into my room where I was dozing over my work. I said several time what’s up, and he finally said your wife has fallen in the backyard—!
I ran out to the front to find Libby laying on her back grinning. She said, I somehow fell of the car, I don’t know how. When she tried to stand up, she had an enormous pain on her hip. We feared it was broken. With enormous effort she made it to the chair in the kitchen. There she remained all night trying to decide whether it was serious enough to take it to the hospital. It was.
That morning we found that she had cracked the edge of her hip. The hip had to be replaced.
Being Libby, she remains cheerful. She would not have it any other way. She went to surgery this morning. All prognoses are good. Martha, Carlos’ wife, a physical therapist and MD, is optimistic as well. She will certainly need a lot of recovery and this will be difficult. I trust that she will get through well with this , as she’s gotten through many other difficulties., with heart and humor. Her phone is broken and the hospital does not accept incoming calls. We are trying to get her a new phone.
At this point we are accepting any help or donations as we we are broke and every bit helps.. We are planning to be out of this situation directly. Meanwhile sign on!
More soon, Steve
