I am reminded of when I was in Alberta and a physicist friend was working on hail. They were flying small planes around the storms monitoring and collecting data. He got me a chance to go up on one of the flights. I remember little but massive cloudscapes but it was fun. Alberta has a hail problem and I saw some of it but nothing like what is in the pic above.
