Dark Winds wiki.

I heard about this last night. It is an adaptation of Tony Hillerman’s novels set in Navajo country in the southwest. It has very strong reviews and the lead character is Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn. That is a big plus as I have seen him in other shows and really liked his work. I expected to have the first season DVD today but there was a snag. As a backup, it seems the first episode is on youtube so I will check it later.

I read a few of Hillerman’s novels years ago. I don’t remember much but I liked them. I thought I had posted before on him and his daughter but it is likely buried in the 300 posts I started but never posted. Yes, that is crazy.

Steve on Hillerman

Yikes, I just searched my drafts and found the below sitting there from 2023. I can’t believe it.

News to me. I hope it is better than Yellowstone.

Steve knew Tony Hillerman. I read a couple of the novels and liked them ok even if I don’t much read  fiction.

update April 2, 2025

I saw the first half of season 2 last night and it was ok. Pretty standard TV except for the Navajo setting. There was an episode called Antigonish which is a town near by. At first I wrote it off as coincidence but to my surprise it references the town. I am still unclear why but it seems to be about a poem of the same name set there. A bizarre bit of synchronicity I never expected. Life is strange and everything is connected.
