Dippers

 

 the American Dipper is North America’s only truly aquatic songbird? One of our staff here at the Alaska Raptor Center, captured this amazing footage of an American Dipper swimming upstream here in Sitka, Alaska!

One of my favorite birds even though I have never seen one. I wonder why they are not in the east.

I saw this one in New Mexico on the Pecos river. I was surprised to see it dive beneath the water and come up with a bug. Their eyelids are white when they close their eyes. Kevin Harding
