Capulin Volcano National Monument
I never heard of it but great scenery. It looks so much like Africa. In the Pleistocene, game would be everywhere. No doubt it was used as a lookoff for that reason back then.

Also, it fits the The Lord of the Rings description of Mount Doom in Mordor, too well, not to mention it. It even has a similar road.
