John Grade | Reservoir
Suspended above a clearing in a grove of pine trees in the Park, Reservoir is composed of five thousand transparent droplets formed individually by heat and framed in steam-bent wood. The delicate droplets are attached to two transparent nets supported by tree trunks. As rainwater accumulates in the droplets, the position and shape of the streams lower and change. When the collected water evaporates, the sculpture returns to its original configuration. The springs sheathed under the pulleys limit the vertical range of movement so that the sculpture remains at least 3 meters above the ground. Even very light rain is enough to create visible downward movement. Once dry, the sculpture weighs more than 30 kilos. When filled by heavy rains, the sculpture can exceed 350 kilos. Chantal Melançon
Interesting idea.
Anish Kapoor’s ‘Descension’ (2015)
Sort of neat.
