I have seen a lot of these videos cross my Meta feed lately. I was surprised that this is a full time job for several people and they are not garter snakes.
Eastern brown snakes are a very common catch and they are the 2nd most venomous snake.
I was even more surprised at where they found them. Inside cars, houses, the middle of urban areas are all common places.
I read a fishing book set in Australia years ago and the author mentioned Australian snakes as the grizzlies and tigers of that continent. One description I remember was a hiker stepped over a log and a small but deadly taipan fell into his open boot. He saw it happen and the chilling sensation he felt was off the scale. I forget if he got it out or what happened next.
Murphy’s Law is a constant threat.
