Landspout?

Stunning footage shows a large landspout tornado towering over north-central New Mexico.

dust devils are caused by convective currents of heat rising off of hot ground. They are different. If you look up waterspouts, it might give you a little more insight. There are two types of waterspouts: tornadic (actual tornado over water powered by a strong thunderstorm) and “fair weather” waterspouts, which form from cumulus clouds and are weak enough to fly a plane through. The landspout is the equivalent of the fair weather waterspout, only it forms over land instead of water. They are also sometimes called “gustnadoes”. Jim Earley
