Chas, friend of the blog, sent this by email. It captures the biophilia that can take hold anywhere. It is easy to see why people are drawn to it in an environment like this. What would give a better sense of euphoria than the flight of birds like these. It is an escape from the poverty, urban bleakness, and oppression of a crippling caste system.
The media loves to make a thing out of Mike Tyson and his pigeons, usually while missing the point. It does support interest in the topic which is a good thing.

Steve has a good book on this. I haven’t read it in a long while but a friend in MA frequently refers to it as an inspiring book.
If there was any doubt Steve is into pigeons a search produces 26 pages of posts here.

A sadder pigeon story.
Aloft is such a strong read. It opened my eyes to the beauty of watching pigeons course, roll and tumble.
