I read this last night. A sober reminder of the depravity of people. It describes the murder of 100s of Osage tribal members over oil money 100 years ago. Nothing has changed with the recent resurgence of fascism. Many black and white photos.

I got this at the same time. I haven’t started it. It looks long but has many color photos to break it up. I was surprised that the production values were as high as they are, even for a famous author. A nice looking book.

I got this 2 weeks ago and read pieces of it. Similar to his dino book. It is informative but not as good as Otherlands. Some b&w drawings in it. His dino book was a hit so they juiced up this book. I was surprised to see a paperback copy at the airport when l flew west last week.

While out west, we drove 130 miles south in Saskatchewan almost to the US border at Regway. We stopped at some canola field trials. The grasshoppers sounded like rain in the canola. My hosts were unaware of locusts. Another forgotten bit of history like the book at the top.

As I told them, it would be very different out there if they were still around.
It is ‘shroom season or close to it so this book is next on the list. I heard about it via this excellent article which is now part of the book. Biology is starting to acknowledge that fungi rule the world. Two sections of color plates which I didn’t expect in a book like this.
