Deer Darwin Awards

So quite the morning in the woods. After this morning sit, I was walking down a powerline grade and came across the last thing a hunter wants to find. I stumbled upon 5 dead deer, 3 bucks and 2 doe, at first I wasn’t sure what I was looking at. After a moment, I realized that a tree that probably blew over in last weekend’s high winds had taken down power lines on the 5 deer and had been electrocuted. Yes I called the DNR to make sure I was doing everything correctly then we called consumers since the power lines were still hot, they sent a truck out to disconnect the power, cut the trees off the line and then turned power back on. So I’m writing this as an eye opener if you hunt around power lines first as you walk in, this story could have had a different ending if anyone was walking around in the dark. The first three pictures are what I walked up to. Just an update to this all these deer were spoiled probably been 5 days old an nasty smell and yes I get to keep the antlers.  Nick Bosman

I see this event in the media once a decade, or so. It happens more often than expected and probably goes unreported a lot. It would be a strange thing to find.

Deer get into all kinds of goofy predicaments.

This one pretty much takes the cake though. Somehow this buck gored himself and couldn’t get out of it. A Darwin award for sure. I saw this a year ago and it is making the rounds again. How old it is is unknown to me. I thought l posted this before but I do not see it.

The race track is next door. I heard last week a guy there had a pile up with a deer. The horse was shot and he had his leg broken in two places. No word on the deer. I couldn’t find anything online about it.  Hard to imagine how it happened with wide open space there but shit happens.

As usual, open in new tabs to embiggen. Twice in this case.
