Local Gyr, etc

Six years ago today I was able to see my dream bird. This Gyrfalcon had been seen around Joggins the day before so I went to take a look. After most of the day searching, I finally found it perched on a telephone pole. I was able to watch it for a few minutes before it took off chasing some gulls. One of the most memorable birds I have seen in Nova Scotia.
Spent a good part of today looking for this guy near Joggins, NS. The Gyrfalcon was at the top of my birding wish list so when I heard it was nearby and had been spotted twice in the last few days in a small area, I had to go look for it. Thanks Adrienne for letting me go and not filing for divorce!

Was happy with a Barred Owl on the handrail of my deck last evening as yesterday’s highlight of my GBBC. Then this afternoon, a Peregrine Falcon having a bit of a midday snack. Needless to say, I was pretty chuffed. 🙂 Lower Sackville, Feb. 18, 2023. Gerry Lunn

I love the feathers on the wind.
