Frank Herbert’s Dune

Back to Arrakis

I saw this referenced and thought, okay, worth a quick look. I looked at the first half hour and it was cringe worthy compared to the 2021 version. Bad sets, bad acting, a chopped up story and nobody actors that had this one blip on film. Some of the crazy costumes were a hoot.

Princess Irulan was added out of context because, you know, show biz, arghhh. She was in this butterfly outfit that looked so stupid it was stunning. Everything looked cheap even though it was a 20 million production. And yet, It was a major success at the time so what do I know? The new one is better, and what a difference 20 years can make, but it is still a shadow of what it could be.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

A better film. Not really Sci-Fi to me as much as Sci-Fi in the service of something else. The multiverse is a crutch writers overuse now like time travel stories. There is little supporting data for either not that Hollywood would care.

Why Does Contact Say So Much About God?

Better Sci-fi.
