Winter is over.

In Utah, sheds have hats now. Powder Addicts

We had near zero snow compared to some years.

I have the cock pheasant outside the window doing his flap and flutter again. I love that dawn sound.  They had a great winter. I hope they come back since the pop is down.

The deer should be ok, too.

Record year out west in places so it will be different there.

Record breaking snow season at Mammoth in California! 28-30 inches of fresh snow at Main Lodge, bringing the season total to 695 inches (17.7m) so far & 870 inches (22m) up at the summit of Mammoth Mountain.

  2. If you want to geek out on Sierra snowpack data, the gold standard is the California Cooperative Snow Surveys for April 1st. Unlike inherently dubious ski area figures or notoriously glitchy SNOTEL devices, this data comes from trained ski mountaineers actually getting out there and taking reliable measurements. Most of this year’s numbers are in now, and the figures for the Kern and Owens drainages especially are mindblowing.
