A great view of it. A serious canyon I would love to see but will not. I remember an article somewhere that discussed a fishing fad about climbing into and out of the canyon to fish. It must not have been this stretch. The fact that it is flat on top only adds to its allure. It reminds me of similar locale here on a smaller scale. It is a gorge the locals call the gun barrel for its straight deep defile.

The park contains 12 miles (19 km) of the 48-mile (77 km) long Black Canyon of the Gunnison River. The national park itself contains the deepest and most dramatic section of the canyon, but the canyon continues upstream into Curecanti National Recreation Area and downstream into Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. The canyon’s name owes itself to the fact that parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day, according to Images of America: The Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In the book, author Duane Vandenbusche states, “Several canyons of the American West are longer and some are deeper, but none combines the depth, sheerness, narrowness, darkness, and dread of the Black Canyon.” @bence_p
A great 2nd view of it.
I have always been fascinated by the British Columbia raincoast. Its wild coastal mountains were hardly ever discussed in the past. I knew there were treasures in there. I saw these videos and wasn’t disappointed. I was aching to be there in such beautifully wild, wet and luxuriant places.
