Yellow-bellied Tragopan

Rare images of yellow-bellied tragopan aka Cabot’s tragopan family in Guangdong. Researchers have spotted a rare yellow-bellied tragopan with its babies in the Nanling National Nature Reserve in Guangdong Province. The yellow-bellied tragopan belongs to the pheasant family, and is a national first-class protected wild animal. It only lives in the deep mountains in southern China. It’s rare to capture high-definition video of baby tragopans.

Steve’s Book on Books referenced William Beebe’s Pheasant Jungles as an essential outdoor read. I can’t remember if this species was one of the quests in the book. Google suggests not.

The dudes are flashy.
