The walls of Karakoram at Soq Valley – Skardu

I saw these pix and thought ok that is extreme but Karakoram is so maybe.  The first pic shows signs of fakery but more research suggested they may be real.

This site has pix that are like the ones here.

Maybe Libby, our resident mountaineer, has feedback?

I would like them to be real. I assume it could be a dangerous place to live. Tectonics there are likely very active to create something like that.

On second thought, they look fake.

Real ones almost as extreme.

  1. Those shots have been digitally stretched like mad. Why one would feel the need to do that to images of the most spectacular mountains in the world is beyond me. Searching stuff like Baltistan, Baltoro, Skardu and Gilgit will bring up all sorts of better imagery. Here are a couple I’d call trustworthy, though still amazingly spectacular.
