Gazehound Man

Sir Henry Raeburn, Scottish, “Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet, with His Dogs” (1809), Abbotsford House, Scotland. The man of letters, shown here with Percy and Camp, was a great dog lover who owned many during his lifetime. Camp (the dog pictured at his feet) was his favorite. He wrote that he spoke to him as a man and that when told of which of the two routes that his master took home, he always showed up to greet him along the correct route. Bob Shire

It seems he was a gazehound man.

Scott would approve.
