It was posted by Val Atkinson. I was prepared to move on and then thought to check the background. Turns out he was a well known fishing photographer back in the day. I hadn’t heard of him in decades. He seems he is still well connected. Further on he mentioned McGuane.
The legendary writer Tom McGuane with a 24 pound fresh sea-trout taken just at sunset on the Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego. It was an evening for the record books as he and Yvon Chouinard caught 15 to 20 big sea-trout all on surface flies. They were definitely in the right place at the right time. This image was on the cover of Flyfisherman Magazine that very year. Memories to last a lifetime. Dec13, 2023
