It is on again.

A fair size audience witnessed the ultimate aerial showdown between the Peregrine and a Sandpiper that lasted until the Peregrine admitted defeat, and he did not give up without a huge effort.
This is the only shot I had with them together, spectacular to watch. I realize this is natures way but I was still rooting for the sandpiper.

Edit to add it may be a white rumped?…not sure Jessica Van Luxemborg
A shot of the huge flock of shorebirds at Evangeline Beach today. I estimated the flock at 30k birds and probably the biggest group I have seen in NS. The beach was about 300m long and was covered with birds from the shore to the water line.
When you are presented with a scene like this with a huge depth of field you can try focus stacking. For this shot, I took 15 shots focusing on different areas of the flock starting at the front and moving back. I used a smaller aperture to get as much depth of field as I could on each shot. I loaded all the images into Photoshop as layers and then Auto-aligned all of the layers and then Auto-blended the layers. The auto blend using the stack mode takes the parts of each image that is in focus and creates a mask for that to create the final image. August 18, 2024. Jason L Dain
