The Arita Cone, characterized by its nearly perfect conical structure, emerges prominently from the expansive terrain of the Salar de Arizaro, located within the Puna de Atacama region that spans both Chile and Argentina. This geological formation, sculpted through the processes of natural erosion, presents a visually striking phenomenon within the arid desert environment. In an effort to document this unique landmark, photographer John Seager employed a drone to capture the cone’s pronounced shadow during a clear, sunlit day, thereby highlighting its dramatic silhouette against the extensive salt flats. The Arita Cone’s distinctive morphology and solitary aesthetic render it a noteworthy natural landmark, providing an opportunity to explore the formidable forces of geological and environmental processes.
