Had an incredible display of acrobatics yesterday when a couple young Peregrine Falcons had a disagreement. Initially the darker bird was cruising around, doing some practice dives on the peeps. Then the lighter bird came out of nowhere and took a swipe at the first bird (which I didn’t catch, it happened real fast!). Well, that dark bird took offence and what followed were several aerial encounters which reminded me of the Snowbirds doing their close passes at the air show. I don’t think there was any contact and no feathers flew, but there was definitely some annoyance and talons flashing as these two young birds clashed in the air just off the dykes.

Many Peregrines will move out soon, too.
