The Feathers Fly

Peregrine falcon hunts pintail ducks at Colusa NWR
What’s causing all the commotion? Look closely, and you’ll notice the culprit – a peregrine falcon on the hunt!
Colusa National Wildlife Refuge in California saw some action as a peregrine falcon flew into a flock of northern pintails, looking for its next meal! The larger greater white-fronted in the foreground weren’t as phased by the disturbance and stuck around. A true Throwback Thursday post taken in 2015 – an oldie yet a goodie of nature being nature!

  1. Just in middle of “Hounds of Heaven” and absolutely loving it. Brought me to this site to learn more. Was a fan of Dutch Salmon and have been to visit him and go out jack rabbit hunting with him. I live in South Australia and have running dogs myself. Been a hunter all my life. Love your objective approach. Good on ya.

    1. Dear Rob, I can’t answer you easily because the blog is being weird. Use my personal email — Sea Run has it.

SR: I want to start publishing the blog again but I can’t because the blog is being weird. I have a piece on my hippie mentor Francoise that I will send you separately.

Back to Rob: There is no literature in English on eagle hunting and very people could evaluate it. The brilliant Lauren McGough has spent two years in the Stans, and also several months in Africa . She has my highest recommendation . I’ll send you her email. She’s the only authority I trust on eagles. Get in touch with her.
