Goshawk and Crow

I had the fortunate opportunity last summer, along with my son Ben, to photograph three of John Scheeler’s pieces. This one, Goshawk and Crow, may be my all time favorite wildfowl sculpture. John was a mentor and inspiration to many carvers. In my new book, to be released in May 2025, I made a number of references to comments he made to me about our art form. In 1981 this piece was awarded Best in World Decorative Life Size. Lynn Forehand placed Second in World with a composition of three mourning doves in flight and my piece featuring a pair of American Wigeon with a Yellow-headed Blackbird placed Third in World. That was my first entry in that class. Photography by Ben Godin Pat Godin/Godin ArtPat Godin/Godin Art

I assume Steve would like it on his desk. Me, too.
