Here’s a piece I carved into a loon awhile ago from a walnut stump I found in a ditch by the road while walking my dogs . Walnut is a fickle wood to finish as the hairs of the grain stand up when the oil finish touches it … you have to sand off those burrs to get a beautiful finish. This piece sold long ago . The loon is not that well done but I love the lilies. I don’t get what the mass is behind the neck. Water?
