The Chadwick Ram has legendary status among sheep hunters. It is often touted as the finest trophy ever taken in North America. That is sheep hunter bias but it is exceptional in how much more impressive it is vs the ones under it. In my perspective, it is rare because of that. It is an outlier for sure and nothing has come close to it in the last 100 years.

There is even this statue in Fort Nelson, BC.
Therefore, I was surprised to see the live ram in the pic. I was unaware that there were captive Stone sheep of this caliber. I shouldn’t have been surprised because sheep, and especially stone sheep, drive people nuts. Pen sheep are a thing now and I reported in an earlier post how it has been abused.
This live ram likely surpasses the Chadwick ram and if it was wild it would be a world record. The chances of a wild sheep getting to that quality are likely very slim but a friend that hunted sheep said there are remote areas of BC yet that may hold surprises.
