circa 1905, 29 1/2in. smokeless proof monobloc barrels with sunken matt top rib and no under rib, scroll engraving at the breech end, 9 punch marks, 2 5/8in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke, sprung sliding-breech with converging obturator discs, button barrel release, manual side safety with gold-inlaid ‘F’ and ‘S’ details, fine acanthus scroll engraving surrounding game scene vignettes of hound and fowl, the fences carved in high relief with holly leaves and berries, the underside with a gold-inlaid monogram ‘ED’, 15 1/4in. figured stock including 1 1/2in. wooden extension and with later diamond-shaped strengthening plates at the hand, fore-part with horn finial, weight 7lb. 7oz.
