Crazy hunting story from John Hawley…and pictures to back it up.A friend helped his hunting partner track a buck that he’d shot near dark. They tracked until the trail started to dry up and backed out until morning. They picked up the track in the morning and found his buck but a badger had found it first and had claimed it for his own. You can see the badger in the center of the top picture. He was very aggressive, looked willing to fight, and wouldn’t leave his kill. As you can see, he nearly had it buried and he had made a den right beside it. They tried to intimidate the Badger but he wouldn’t leave. They finally fired shots in the ground with a handgun and that changed the Badger’s mind and were able to claim their buck. They have a great story and pictures to back up.
I had to laugh. I wlll bet he couldn’t believe his luck only to have some skunk ape horn in on it. He must be ticked off. I, at least, would leave him some.
