Eagle Outage

The Power was out last night for a couple of hours. I didn’t expect this explanation on looking for the status of restoration. I imagined it was a young eagle that crossed the lines. It is likely all too common.

Flores mentioned eagle recovery in his book. He described the sordid history of abuse before the endangered species act where people were shooting them from planes and poisoning them constantly. Nowadays they are getting lead poisoning a lot. There is a wildlife rehab center near here and they get a lot of eagles with lead poisoning and car strikes. Flores did say something new to me. He said people are shooting them again for kicks. Bald eagles were doing well he said but goldens are not and power lines are a big factor.

News today.  A bit of serendipity.
