​ Modified wing feathers are rubbed over bumps at high speed to produce the sound. The only bird that does so which resembles how insects create mating sounds.
If these things were not real it would hard to picture them as being possible. Nature tries nearly everything however.  It also suggests how much more is possible outside of organic life.
