The Record-Breaking Lahontan Cutthroat Trout of 2025
Fly fishing at Pyramid Lake, Nevada, offers both exhilarating challenges and unique opportunities, but what happened in January 2025 was truly AMAZING. A massive 29 lb Lahontan Cutthroat Trout (pictured below ) was landed, marking one of the biggest fish ever caught in the lake — a sign of what could be a new era for Pyramid Lake’s famed trout.
Since the fishing season opened in October 2024, there has been a noticeable increase in the size of the fish caught. Simply put, “the fish are getting bigger,” and January proved that beyond doubt — it was unbelievable!
