H Is for Hawk (film) and Andor

Source

H is for Hawk follows Helen (Claire Foy), who, after the sudden death of her father (Brendan Gleeson), loses herself in the memories of their time birding and exploring the natural world together and turns the ancient art of falconry—rooted in European tradition—training a wild goshawk named Mabel to navigate her profound loss. But as she teaches Mabel to hunt and fly free, Helen discovers how deeply she has neglected her own emotions and life. What begins as an act of endurance transforms into an intimate journey of resilience and healing.

They made a movie out of H Is for Hawk? Did I know? I don’t see a prior reference that I did.

There are some big names associated with it and so far it has decent reviews.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 75% of 20 critics’ reviews are positive.[18] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 60 out of 100, based on six critics, indicating “mixed or average” reviews.[19]

Review summary per wiki.

The target audience may be limited. No word on budget but it is likely small as it seems an independent film per AI.

I found this out in the usual free association way by watching this video, about an Andor character, and then looking up the actress and her credits. She seems a master actor which bodes well for the Hawk film. I saw Claire Foy in the Wolf Hall show and she was excellent, too. Brendan Gleeson, of course, can do anything.

Speaking of Andor, the first 3 episodes of it are here.
From what I have seen it is 10x better than other Star Wars material. Really more a look at resistance fighters than Star Wars. It just happens to have a Star Wars setting. I have not seen it all and have been reduced to clips and reviews of it. Some of the character analysis and summaries on Youtube, point out it is an amazing show. So far, I agree.
This guy’s videos on it are very in depth. It always surprises me how movies are often about way more than I know.
