During a fishing tournament on Lake Michigan, an angler landed a steelhead that stopped everyone around him cold. Zip-tied to the fish’s tail was a wedding ring, not snagged on a hook, not tangled in line, but deliberately fastened there. Tournament officials confirmed it was real, photos started circulating almost immediately, and what should’ve been a routine catch turned into one of those fish stories people normally roll their eyes at. Except this one had proof.
Then the backstory came out, and it somehow got stranger. The ring’s owner stepped forward and said it came from a failed marriage, and that years earlier he’d zip-tied the ring to a steelhead and released it because he believed the ring was cursed and wanted it gone. Instead of disappearing forever, the ring spent years swimming the Great Lakes before resurfacing in the middle of a sanctioned tournament. The angler who caught the fish said he planned to mail the ring back, closing the loop on a story that sounds fake, reads fake, and still somehow actually happened. Delong Lures
One of those things that may or may not be true but make for a good story.
Fishing season is on here now but I will have to wait for the water to warm some first.
