The one with her in that pic was Aralbai, the “Kazakh redneck” hardcore hunter I know well and drank much with– he is younger than I. There are a lot of pix of her with the entire family, and he has been exposed to the west (and the Japanese!) enough that I think that he probably was purely delighted. The other one she hunted with was a real old master– I’ll dig up photos later– who must have been a bit shy at first at the thought of a female eagler– his wife still wears headscarfs. But he was beaming at the end.
