One method used a ‘Drifting In Situ Chamber’ instrument invented by Paris that consists of an underwater chamber with an imaging system to record larval fish swimming behavior in their natural settings. The second method used is the ‘Following’ method developed by Jeff Leis, an ichthyologist at the University of Tasmania, in which two scuba divers follow late-stage larvae while recording the bearing and swimming speed.
When I worked in Fish Larvae research we had satellite links to buoys following drifting larvae in water blobs at sea. I didn’t think it would come down to the above 30 years later.

Over hyped but still news since it is more plausible now.
I mentioned the coyote attack yesterday. I sent the info to a biologist here I know and he replied with, “I’ve attached a picture of the two coyotes that attacked Taylor Mitchell – taken by other tourists on the trail, about 5 minutes before the attack.” That was unexpected and rather a shock that 5 minutes could have made a huge difference.
