Shed Season

When you scour the area looking for that match side only to find it in the worst possible place.

Too true.

It is Shed Season.

I have spent a fair bit of time shed hunting. It used to be an unheard of thing but now it is huge. Seasons in some locales had to be created to protect animals from harassment. We can never leave anything alone.

Money was one reason besides bragging rights, etc. Sheds are a commodity now. That, of course, has lead to negative side effects.

One of the more assuming aspects is the creation of shed dogs. I haven’t kept up with it and I don’t know if they became a big part of it but a dog shed hunting sounds fun for all concerned. Dogs and people go together.

World’s happiest shed dog

World’s cutest shed dog.

Atika breed pup.

The feet, tail, ears, and colors are just too much.

  1. Wow, that is a seriously cute dog.

I’ll confess that I’m not a shed hunter. I often simply pick up interesting antlers and the like that I run across while doing other things, but I’ve never gone out to purposely find them, and I lament that it’s become such a big deal in our state that there’s now a season.
