A less obvious example, I was really looking forward to when electric trucks got to the reliability and price points that they’d be a reasonable purchase. That would no doubt take “low impact” everything up a notch.
That excitement has vanished, ever since a neighbor bought an electric car. Sure, it’s whisper quiet to me, but my dog hears it from a quarter mile away and he doesn’t care for it in the least. I honestly don’t know at this point if deer will hear the same silent to me scream the electric car makes, but it certainly will send predators running the other way and I can’t say it won’t do the same to deer. (A quick search of the web says deer hear a dog whistle, just not as well as dogs, but that may be apples and oranges.) Source
I was surprised to hear this. The touted silence of EV vehicles is a myth it seems.
