Raptor conflict

Driving down a western Wyoming highway yesterday, Jim and I noticed four hawks (of two different species) that were tag-team harassing an immature golden eagle. I didn’t have a big lens, but did manage to capture a few images of the conflict. This is a Swainson’s hawk harassing the golden eagle.

Swainson’s family

This family of Swainson’s hawks were perched on power poles outside of Pinedale this week. There was one more juvenile on the pole across the highway. I didn’t have my big lens, so I walked up to visit them, getting scolded in the process.

Bold supervision

Hay harvest on our ranch started this week. Part of that process involves getting all the equipment greased, gassed, tuned up and ready to work – including machinery that hasn’t been touched since hay harvest ended last year.
